IFRA – Nairobi invites internship applications offering an opportunity to gain professional experience by working with an international team of a researchers.

Duration: 3 to 4 months (full-time) from 1 September 2025

IFRA-Nairobi is part of the network of French research institutes under the supervision of both the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Its mission is to promote research in humanities and social sciences in East Africa and the dissemination of knowledge; promote the training of students in research activities; strengthen institutional and scientific partnerships between East African and French universities or research institutes.
MISSIONS
1. Project management
The intern’s main mission will be to assist IFRA’s team in projects management.
– Ensure communication between the stakeholders
– Support in the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops (desk-based research, writing of invitation letters, design of programs and event’s posters).
– Logistical support for event management.
– Monitoring calls for projects
– Strengthen links and collaborations with civil society organizations
2. Communication
– Enhancing IFRA’s activities and visibility
– Regular update of the IFRA website
– Regular management of IFRA’s Facebook page and Twitter account
– Producing video material for the youtube channel
– Writing and sending a monthly digital newsletter
3. Editorial activities for IFRA’s publications (East African Review and Mambo!)
– Contact with authors
– Copy editing (proofreading, layout)
– Online publishing process
4. Research.
Depending on the workload, research activities may be assigned to the intern (data collection, literature review, scientific report)
REQUIRED SKILLS
– 3 years of higher education in the humanities and social sciences, communication studies, publishing studies, ideally at the Master’s level;
– Excellent level (written and oral) in English; good level in French if possible;
– A first professional experience in communication would be appreciated;
– A first experience in editorial activities would be appreciated;
– Proficiency in current computer tools, including Office and Canva; proficiency in managing social media, websites; editing skills and proficiency in editing software;
– Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, initiative, autonomy in work.
